Ice and a bit of snow in the Houston area

Around 10:30 AM, Erick and I headed out to the Prius to go to see Wendy.  I'm glad we packed the ice scraper - we needed it.  Luckily, the winter storm around Houston didn't cause the kind of damage that our friends in the Lansing, MI area had to put up with during Christmas week.

When we arrived at Wendy & Michael's house about 10 minutes later, a very light snow was falling.

Bennie met us at the door barking, but soon he was making friends.

We also got reacquainted with Meggie.  She's typically an outdoor cat, but not in the kind of weather Seabrook had today.

At 1 PM, Wendy took us to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.  She recommended Sopa Pablana - a soup with a creamy pureed poblana pepper base, chunks of chicken, zucchini and corn. Soup hit the spot because after two months of packing and three days of driving, a cold finally caught up with me.

When we got back to Quality Inn after finding some medicine for my cold, there was still some ice on palm trees.

We're trying to get some rest in preparation for more visiting tomorrow.
