On the Road to Texas

We repacked the Prius and left Larry & Linda's in Tustin this morning just before 9 AM EST.  The temperature was -2 F.  We took a route that bypassed the lake effect snow around Chicago and Gary - I-69, 70 and 57.

By lunchtime we had left Michigan behind, and were fueling up the car and ourselves in Indiana.

We had sunshine and clear roads all day, so we made it a long one.  Here are a few of the sights along the way:

Five hundred and seventy-eight miles later, at around 6 PM CST we pulled into the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  After dropping off our bags, we found an all-you-can-eat restaurant nearby.

The temperature here is 10 F with 35 F predicted for tomorrow.  It should be another good traveling day.  Meanwhile, it's time for some rest and relaxation.
